Event Guide
We would have loved to celebrate every moment with all of you, but unfortunately space is limited. Please take a look at your invitation to see which events you’re invited to - we can’t wait to celebrate together!
Sangeet
The sangeet and mehndi night is the big pre-wedding celebration! The evening will kick off at 5:30pm - expect a few speeches, performances from some (very!) talented dancers and a lovely dinner before we all hit the dance floor together.
The event will be held at OKAHU in Mission Bay, Auckland. There is parking available across the road outside Kelly Tarton's aquarium.
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and ready for a night of dancing!
Haldi
The haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding tradition where family and friends apply turmeric paste to the bride and groom as a symbol of love, blessings, and good fortune for the journey ahead. Marking the official beginning of our wedding, this vibrant morning event will be followed by canapés featuring a selection of delicious Indian street food.
The ceremony will be held at Markovina Estate Vineyard in Kumeū, Auckland. We ask that you arrive at 10:00am, and we expect the event to conclude at 12:30pm. There is plenty of parking available at the venue.
Please wear semi-formal attire in shades of yellow and orange. Both short and long outfits are welcome, and it's perfectly fine if your outfit includes touches of white.
Shantak
The grah shantak is a traditional Gujarati pre-wedding ceremony in which family members perform rituals to remove obstacles and bless the couple with happiness, prosperity and good fortune for their life together.
This ceremony will also be held at Markovina Estate Vineyard in Kumeū, Auckland. Guests are to arrive from 4:00pm and following the rituals, there will be a sit-down dinner.
Please wear formal Indian or Western attire.
Ceremonies and Wedding Reception
The final day will feature both the Hindu and Western wedding ceremonies, followed by our wedding reception. Please arrive by 1:30pm where the celebrations will begin with Rickie's baraat, in which the groom makes his grand entrance in a procession of music and dancing with family and friends. From there, we'll flow into our Hindu ceremony, then our Western ceremony, before celebrating together over dinner, speeches, and plenty of dancing to round off the weekend.
Events on this last day will take place at Puketutu Island Estate in Auckland. There is plenty of parking available at the venue. There will also be a one-way bus departing the venue at midnight that will head to the Auckland CBD.
Please wear formal Indian or Western attire.
